What is Karana?
To understand the Karana, you need to know a little bit of Panchang. There are five limbs of a Panchang: Days or Vaar, Tithi, Karana, Nakshatra, and Yogas. While a tithi holds a whole lunar day (24hours), the half of the lunar day is called Karana. There are two Karanas on each tithi or lunar day. For example, if one is born in the Shukla tritiya, the 1st karana will be Taitila, and the 2nd Karana will be Garija. Mercury, the curious plane, rules the Karana, the Karma, your Karya-Shakti. This is why karana is considered to predict a profession. In a Kaalpurush Kundali, Mercury governs the 3rd and 6th houses, which relate to your skills and everyday work.
